Electricity price cheapest in Nigeria – Adelabu

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu has said that electricity is cheapest in Nigeria compared to other African countries. According to Adelabu, Nigeria and the World in general grapple with two basic problems: Food and Energy security.

Electricity distribution companies in Nigeria charge N209.5 per Kilowatt-hour effective 1st July 2024 for customers in Band A, getting 20-22 hours.

Recall that on April 3, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission approved a 240 percent electricity tariff hike to N225 per kilowatt-hour from N66. DAILY POST observed that the cost of electricity in Senegal and Togo is N296.

10 and N353.68 per kilowatt-hour, respectively, higher than that of Nigeria.
