The Sokoto State Government has announced a 55 per cent discount on rice and other essential items procured for the people at the cost of N14 billion.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu announced this during the inauguration of the state and local government monitoring teams for the sales of the food items at subsidised rate on Monday.
He explained that the food items were meant for every family across the 244 wards in the state.
The governor assured that the initiative would be sustained until the economic situation in the country improved.
