A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has refused an a application by a faction of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the State, seeking an order to stop the Local Government Area Council elections scheduled for October 26th, 2024.
The plaintiffs in the suit are, the New Nigeria People’s Party and Engr.
Muhammad Babayo, while the defendants are listed as INEC, Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, Inspector General of Police and Director General, Department of State Services.
According to Court documents, the plaintiffs are seeking the Court to grant an order stopping the election pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice.
Similarly, the plaintiffs urged the Court to grant such further orders as it deems fit to make in the circumstances of the case...
