Former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has defended his decision to oppose his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, during the 2023 general elections.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Wike denied allegations of engaging in anti-party activities.
He said, “For the presidential election, I said I am going to support equity, fairness and justice.
Today, people say ‘discipline Wike, he did anti-party.
’ I did not do anti-party.”Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, Wike, along with four other PDP governors namely Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) formed a coalition (G5) opposing Atiku’s candidacy.
